Sewing Collars (Right sides together and turn)

In short, Yes: sewing ANY cloth together CAN create a ditch (see image) and a "please don't try it unless you are VERY skilled in Marvelous Designer specifically" to the using of seam allowances in a 3D software, there isn't really a need to do that the hard way.

Turn on curve side geometry and it looks like a turned seam. You can even fake it with ONE fabric layer and turn on "double sided geometry". you would have a VERY difficult time with actually folding over edges with how collision works in the 3D space compared to real life. There are basic tools meant to make faking the look of what you are asking for, so use those instead. You are not working with real life cloth, it will not act and work the same as it does in your hands and at an iron; expect you will have to work differently.

I recommend new users to the software watch our tutorials to get a basic grasp on the tools and features since your acct is new, so here is the link to the YouTube account https://www.youtube.com/c/Marvelousdesigner. Play around for a couple minutes with the software and you will see how it works, and what the "cloth" can and can't do compared to your IRL expectations.

Thank you for that response, very helpful.  I am not a new user; I have had the software several years, but, I am not a skilled user either.  I am finally trying to make more complex garments. I will watch the tutorials again to learn the tools to "fake" getting this effect in 3D. (getting a ditch with two layers sewn together.  Also, I tried Clone Layer Over and got a very nice effect.

they key advice I took from your response is, "You are not working with real life cloth, it will not act and work the same as it does in your hands and at an iron; expect you will have to work differently."  Understood. :)

    Thanks
